We offer students a wealth of resources and opportunities to help them thrive. From STEM, sports, arts and beyond, our broad curriculum and opportunities fosters curiosity and critical thinking.

  • A wide range of co-curricular programs including Project Humble, debating, guitar, choir, Starstruck, School Spectacular, PSSA sporting teams, aerobics, robotics, Film by the Vines and more.

Our diverse community

Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we celebrate this diversity at Cessnock West Public School to create well-rounded global citizens. More than  27% of our students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. 

All students participate in Aboriginal cultural lessons, including NAIDOC activities and learning one of our local languages, Wonnarua. Our Aboriginal student leaders (Moani AET) have an integral role in our student leadership team. 

We celebrate diverse cultural events, enhancing student understanding and promoting inclusivity.

Support for all learners

We support all learners at Cessnock West Public School with specialist educators, individualised learning plans, wellbeing services and additional support to ensure all of our students thrive at school.

We offer:

  • Transition programs for students starting kindergarten, infants to primary and high school. 

  • Specialist programs including literacy and numeracy intervention, vision and hearing itinerate support, language programs, cultural programs and specialised sporting events. 

  • Access for every student to school counsellor and student support officer.
