Premier's Reading Challenge

The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is open to all students at CWPS.

National Simultaneous Story Time

We celebrate National Simultaneous Story Time at Cessnock West Public School. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in our library and classrooms. It is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.

We love to celebrate Book Week each year with fun activities, our Book Parade and LOTS of reading! It is a joy to watch students and teachers immerse themselves into books and demonstrate their comprehension of characters in their costumes. Come and join the fun!
